Restoring Flora & Fauna Back To pre-European Settlement State

Aussie Ark, NSW’s largest independently owned and operated conservation organization, houses seven keystone species once native to the Barrington Tops. Our vision is to create robust insurance populations of threatened Australian mammals like the Tasmanian devil, Eastern quoll, and Long-nosed potoroo, suitable for release into predator-free sanctuaries and eventual reintroduction to the wild. Building on our success with Tasmanian devils, we now apply this expertise to other at-risk species.

Our sanctuaries also protect a wealth of existing native fauna, including numerous mammals, birds, reptiles, and frogs. Aussie Ark’s success stems from practical, science-based conservation, proven to be more effective and cost-efficient than other Australian establishments.

Our core activities include building insurance populations, fire management, feral predator and herbivore control, weed eradication, bush regeneration, field science, rewilding, and wildlife translocations. We are the first organization to wage a focused “war on weeds” and are dedicated to restoring the Great Dividing Range to its pre-European settlement state.
