Safe Havens for Native Species
Aussie Ark fights Australia’s extinction crisis through hands-on conservation - breeding programs, sanctuaries, and rewilding that rebuilds populations of species like the Tasmanian Devil, Koala, and Eastern Quoll. Our work also tackles threats such as disease, weeds and feral animals, while inspiring Australians to protect their wildlife.
Central to this mission are our sanctuaries, feral-free refuges where native animals can thrive without the pressures of feral predators or habitat degradation. These safe havens, combined with broader conservation action, give threatened species the chance to survive and thrive.
Insurance Breeding Programs
Aussie Ark’s Insurance Populations Breeding Programs are a lifeline. These programs safeguard endangered species by creating secure, genetically diverse populations that act as an “insurance policy” against extinction.

Barrington Wildlife Sanctuary
400 hectares of pristine wilderness in the Barrington Tops region, the Barrington Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Aussie Ark’s most important conservation sites. Within its predator-proof fences, Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, Eastern Quolls, and Parma Wallabies are thriving, making it a stronghold for some of Australia’s most threatened species.

Eco Sanctuary
The Eco Sanctuary is a 75-hectare feral-free reserve that borders Aussie Ark’s Species Recovery Unit. It was the very first sanctuary Aussie Ark acquired and fenced, laying the foundation for the network of sanctuaries that now defines our conservation model.

Species Recovery unit
The Species Recovery Unit, built in 2010, is the beating heart of Aussie Ark and our flagship site for wildlife conservation. It was created with a bold vision, to step up and take real action in the face of Australia’s extinction crisis.
Here, some of our most threatened marsupials, including Tasmanian Devils, Eastern Quolls, Brush-Tailed Rock-Wallabies, and several species of small macropods, are given the chance at a future.

Conservation Ark
Conservation Ark is one of two operational bases for Aussie Ark, located at the Australian Reptile Park on the Central Coast of New South Wales. This purpose-built facility plays a vital role in the care, breeding, and recovery of some of Australia’s most endangered native animals.
From venomous snakes and native frogs to elusive rodents like the Broad-Toothed Rat, Conservation Ark is home to a diverse mix of species that are often overlooked — but critical to Australia’s ecological balance.

War On Weeds
Invasive weeds crowd out native plants, degrade habitat, and increase fire risk. Our War on Weeds program targets high-priority species across our sanctuaries to restore healthy ecosystems for Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, Eastern Quolls, Greater Gliders, Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies and more.

Curricabark
Curricabark Sanctuary is a 500 hectare expanse of permanently protected lowland habitat in New South Wales. Rich in diversity, the sanctuary is home to thousands of native animals, from Gliders, Wallabies and Bandicoots to rare Reptiles, Frogs and Woodland Birds.

Yindi
Nestled in the temperate forests of the Barrington Tops, New South Wales, Yindi Sanctuary is one of Aussie Ark’s most precious landscapes. Unlike many sanctuaries that begin with repairing damaged ecosystems, Yindi is different, it protects a landscape that is still thriving.
