About Us

A Conservation-Action Organisation, Built on What Works

Aussie Ark’s mission is to protect Australia’s threatened species by building robust insurance populations, creating healthy ecosystems within our sanctuaries and through rewilding, and securing long-term, tangible outcomes for the species in our care. We are committed to being a proactive, professional, transparent, and effective organisation that delivers real conservation results.

Aussie Ark is NSW’s largest independently owned and operated conservation organisation, now in its 15th year of safeguarding native species and wild places. Every project is driven by a bold vision: to restore Australia’s landscapes to their natural, pre-European state, alive with resilient ecosystems and thriving wildlife.

From humble beginnings saving the Tasmanian Devil, we now lead over 36 active projects across thousands of hectares, protecting 17+ threatened species through a proven, three-tiered model:

Protecting Australia’s native species

At the heart of Aussie Ark’s mission is the protection of Australia’s most vulnerable wildlife. We specialise in breeding and managing insurance populations of keystone species such as the Tasmanian Devil, Eastern Quoll, and Long-Nosed Potoroo, ensuring they remain part of our natural heritage for generations to come.

Within our predator-free sanctuaries, these animals are given the chance to thrive. Carefully paired breeding programs build strong genetic diversity, preparing each species for eventual reintroduction into the wild. Our success with Tasmanian Devils has become a model for other at-risk species, and today, that expertise is driving recovery efforts across a growing range of native mammals.

These sanctuaries also serve as safe havens for countless other native species, mammals, birds, reptiles, and frogs, all flourishing in restored, healthy ecosystems. By focusing on practical, boots-on-the-ground conservation, Aussie Ark is securing a brighter future for Australia’s wildlife.

How we’re making a difference

At Aussie Ark, conservation isn’t an idea on paper; it’s work done in the dirt, in the bush, and on the frontlines of Australia’s extinction crisis. Our team lives and breathes hands-on conservation, dedicating every day to restoring landscapes and protecting native wildlife.

We build and manage strong insurance populations, carefully pair and breed threatened animals, and rewild them into safe sanctuaries. On the land, we take the fight directly to the threats - controlling feral predators and herbivores, eradicating invasive weeds, regenerating bushland, and implementing fire management. We are proud to be the first organisation in Australia to declare a focused “war on weeds,” because real recovery starts with healthy habitats.

Every action we take is practical, measurable, and immediate. Our long-term vision is bold: to restore the Australian bush to its pre-European settlement state, creating self-sustaining ecosystems where Australia’s unique wildlife can thrive once again.

Lean Operations

At Aussie Ark, every dollar is carefully directed to where it matters most. An impressive 80% of our total operating expenditure goes directly to conservation - restoring habitats, breeding endangered wildlife, and protecting sanctuaries. Only 20% is invested in essential administration and fundraising, ensuring we remain accountable and sustainable.

This lean model means that when you support Aussie Ark, you can be confident your contribution is powering real, on-the-ground conservation outcomes. By keeping overheads low and operations efficient, we maximise the impact of every donation, ensuring more resources go into saving Australia’s most threatened wildlife!
