Renew Hope For a Lost Species This Easter

Bring Eastern Quolls Back Home

This Easter, you can renew hope for Eastern Quolls like Lucky, and help rebuild their future. Lucky began life as a vulnerable orphan needing round-the-clock care, to a thriving young Quoll, and she’s now getting ready for the most important chapter of her life; joining the vital Eastern Quoll breeding program.

Your donation this Easter directly fuels the hands‑on conservation work that makes stories like Lucky’s possible! Support our vital Eastern Quoll breeding and rewilding programs, bringing a vanished species back from the brink.

Make a tax-deductible donation by 5 April and be part of the new chapter we're writing for the Eastern Quoll's future.

Endangered Eastern Quolls need your help

Eastern Quolls disappeared from mainland Australia in 1963.
That’s nearly an entire lifetime without this predator on our landscape.

Today, they can still be found in Tasmania, but over 50% of the population has vanished in the last decade, leaving smaller fragmented populations across the state.

The Eastern Quoll is now officially endangered.

Hope is slowly dwindling for this species, and ongoing threats from introduced predators, vehicle collisions and habitat loss are making it near impossible for their safe return.

Your tax deductible donation today can help rebuild the Eastern Quoll's future and restore balance to our ecosystems.

Lucky's Story

You’ve watched Lucky grow, from a vulnerable orphaned joey who had a traumatic start to life and needing round-the-clock care, to now a thriving, young Eastern Quoll here at Aussie Ark.

But her story doesn’t end here. Eventually, she’ll join our vital breeding program, becoming a key part of growing the next generation of Eastern Quolls destined for release.

This Easter, donate now to see Eastern Quolls just like Lucky see a wilder future.

Threats to Eastern Quolls

  • Mainland Extinction: The loss of Eastern Quolls from mainland Australia in the 1960s was driven by the introduction of feral predators such as foxes and cats, as well as habitat loss, poisoning, trapping, and vehicle collisions.
  • Decline in Tasmania: Even in their last wild stronghold, numbers have dropped by over 50% in just a decade, with no signs of natural recovery. Predators, habitat changes, roadkill, and harsh weather events continue to threaten the species.

Rewriting Their Future

At Aussie Ark, we don't wait for wildlife to vanish. We are acting now to secure the future of the Eastern Quoll. Their survival depends on conservation organisations like us, willing to take bold, hands-on action to rebuild their numbers and bring this charismatic predator back to the Australian landscape where it once thrived.

Here's how Aussie Ark is making sure the Eastern Quoll doesn't disappear twice:

Building a Mainland Insurance Population:
Aussie Ark has built and now maintains the largest population of Eastern Quolls on mainland Australia, completely free from feral predators. This insurance population is vital for the species’ survival.

Reclaiming Their Place in the Wild: We are returning Eastern Quolls to carefully managed, predator-controlled habitats on the mainland, including national parks such as Booderee in New South Wales. Each release is a step towards restoring lost ecological function.

Wild Sanctuaries that Protect and Prepare: Our protected sanctuaries, like the 400-hectare Barrington Wildlife Sanctuary, provide safe, natural environments for Eastern Quolls to live, breed, hunt and build the skills they need for life back in the wild.

Restoring a Lost Species: Saving the Eastern Quoll is part of our broader mission to restore small mammal diversity along the Great Dividing Range, aiming to return the landscape to its pre-European ecological balance.

Through these efforts, Aussie Ark is giving the Eastern Quoll a future on the mainland and helping to rebuild the ecological fabric of Australia’s wild places.
